3WALLS AT THE OFFICE

Welcome to November and our third newsletter. 3walls is best known for presenting excellent, local, and affordable art to our clients for their homes. That’s what you love us for. Our work elevating office spaces is also great fun, and we want you to know about a project we’re very proud of right in the heart of Midtown.

Liz Cole, Executive Producer of Dateline and President of NBC News Studios, and enthusiastic 3walls supporter, introduced us to Matt Carpenter, President of the asset management firm Echo Street Capital. Matt and his colleagues wanted guidance finding the perfect artwork for the firm's new offices, a newly renovated, gorgeous, full floor with spectacular views. The team at Echo Street loves art and wanted pieces that would complement the bright, minimalist atmosphere.

Whitney was wowed by the views from the office, and it was clear competing with them was not in the cards. A counterpoint; visually compelling and serene, was Whitney’s prescription. We turned to, among other 3walls artists, Jonathan Smith, whose Ice Form and Stream series offer tranquil reflection, and Elizabeth Hazen’s whose painting Sugar Hill alludes to the city below with a welcome burst of sherbert.

To find the variety she was looking for, Whitney also worked with New York gallerists, including Yossi Milo and Yancey Richardson, and Pentimenti gallery in Philadelphia. In all, 3walls supplied a dozen pieces for Echo Street in various mediums, including painting, photography and collage. “Tangling with the Manhattan skyline is not for the faint of heart,” says Whitney. “But artists like Jon, Elizabeth, Dora Somosi and Nancy Hubbard killed it up at Echo Capitol.” You walk into that office, and now, one of the things you’re impressed by is the view!

Meanwhile, near the waterfront in Sunset Park, Macon is working with emphas!s design on the new City Harvest headquarters. Filling their newly renovated historic industrial building with work by local artists is a multi-phase project, and we’ve already installed some great work by Sarah E. Brook, Jessica Dalrymple, and Adrian Brandon. Very exciting! Stay tuned for those developments in the next newsletter, or maybe the one after that.

3walls November Events

Come see us at The Other Art Fair (TOAF), November 9-12 at Zero Space, 337 Butler Street, Brookyn. Featuring new work by Jocelyn Fine and Susan Homer the 3walls booth (#72) will be well worth a visit. Did I mention we were on the selection committee for TOAF?
